Missing
Scene Challenge 8 Here are
your new challenges. Please feel free
to write more than one story in response to an episode or to write responses
to both eps. The more, the merrier. I'm ready
for some angst, so I've chosen a couple of eps that might inspire you. Have
fun! Here are
the challenges: CURTAIN
CALL: Assume in
this that one of the team is in a relationship with Murdock. Write what happens after they make their escape
from Decker and this team member finally declares to the others that he and
Murdock are lovers. You may have
Murdock awake or unconscious for this discussion. Since the show was essentially a rerun loosely woven together
through each team member's memories, feel free to also include your own
slashy version of any of the flashbacks included in the ep (if you can
remember them) or to make up your own to weave through your scene. Perhaps memories of them falling in
love? Meeting for the first
time? Working together on a case? Be imaginative, and of course, the pairing
is up to you (as long as half of it is Murdock, LOL). And even though I said I was in the mood
for angst?.no killing Murdock! THE SPY
WHO MUGGED ME: Now here
is an episode that seems humorous on the surface, but has a lot of angst
potential. You may deal with any or
all of these small angsty bits. You
can write a small missing scene to address one of the questions, a story that
involves all of them, or a series of short, unconnected missing scenes that
deals with each bit individually without necessarily weaving them into a
complete piece. It's up to you. Why did
Murdock lock Face out on the balcony all night? Why was Face so angry that he tried to strangle Murdock when he
got back in? And how is it that he
didn't have his lockpicks and couldn't seem to find a way to break in when
that door didn't look all that sturdy?
Why didn't any of the other team members seem to wonder where Face was
when he didn't come back from checking up on Murdock? After all, Hannibal
sent Face to go find Murdock and bring him back, and Murdock instead went to
bed with Dominique. After the altercation
when Frankie let Face back in the next morning, did Face and Murdock make up,
or did Face remain resentful? Did anyone
else notice that at the end of this episode, you see Face get slugged by one
of the bad guys on the yacht, and then you never see him again? At the end of the show, Murdock is in the boat
making out with the crewmember; Hannibal, BA, and Frankie are sitting on the
boat talking, but Face is nowhere to be seen. So where is Face?
Moping? Angry? Jealous? Making
out with another crewmember somewhere else? Injured? Murdock
and Face both seem to exhibit some uncharacteristic behavior in this ep. Can this be explained by the fact that it
is part of the fifth season when life is getting weird for all of them? If Face and Murdock are having (or were
having) a relationship, what does Murdock's sudden success with the ladies
mean? It's interesting that in the
fifth season, with some exceptions, Face seems to be less and less the
loverboy while Murdock seems to be more attractive to women. How do you work that into a slashy
universe? Okay? That
was a lot of information, which may be why you might not want to tackle the
whole bunch of them as a complete story.
Do it any way you want, though, and we'll all be glad to read it, I'm sure. I've always thought this would be a
challenging ep to write around a slash relationship, so I'm anxious to see
what you can do with it. Have a
good time! Elizabeth ____________________________________ |
