Billed as a car "for very special people" (whatever that meant), the shrunken Brougham had a distinctively
tapered center side pillar that leaned slightly backward, as well as a custom-trimmed small back window. Rocker
panel moldings were wider, too. "Fleetwood" block lettering appeared on the front fenders (just ahead of the
door) and decklid. Otherwise, it looked much like DeVille's sedan in the new downsized form. A new engine
was the 425 cu. in. (7.0-liter) V-8. Also new were the standard four-wheel disc brakes. So was automatic level
control. Wheelbase was now identical to DeVille (121.5 inches). Broughams displayed a distinctive roof
treatment in Tuxedo Grain vinyl, with opera lamps, carpeted rear footrests, and one-piece wall-to-wall carpeting.
New Florentine velour upholstery fabric came in medium saffron - light gray, dark blue, medium sage green,
light yellow-gold, light buckskin or claret. Smooth-finish Dover fabric was offered in black, dark blue, light
buckskin or claret. Standard 50/50 front seats had individual pulldown armrests and a six-way power adjustment
for the driver (two-way for passenger). The AM/FM stereo radio included a signal-seeking scanner, and was
available with 23-channel CB transceiver. Brougham d'Elegance came equipped with special contoured
pillow-style seats trimmed in Florentine velour cloth (in light gray, dark blue, light buckskin, or claret). Upper
door jambs and inserts in door pull straps and front seatback assist straps were also Florentine cloth. Also
included were three roof-mounted assist straps, turbine-vaned wheel discs, "d'Elegance" script on sail panel, and
distinctive accent striping. Fleetwood Talisman was dropped.

FLEETWOOD LIMOUSINE - SERIES
6D
Newly designed Fleetwood and Fleetwood Formal Limousines continued to serve as the "flagships of the
Cadillac fleet," but in sharply shrunken form. The contemporary edition was over a foot shorter and 900 pounds
lighter. Large door openings allowed easy entry/exit. Automatic Climate Control could be operated from front or
rear. A Dual Accessory Panel let passengers operate power windows and radio, or set temperature. Wheel covers
could match any color. Both outside mirrors were remote-controlled. Upholstery choices included ark blue
Florentine velour; light gray or black Dover cloth. Formal Limousines had black leather up front, plus a glass
partition. Opera lamps were standard. Only 1,299 commercial chassis were turned out this year.
