Both the Cadillac DeVille and Fleetwood D'Elegance had new deflected disc
front strut valving, a new two-piece front strut mount, new shear-type rear
strut mounts and new hydro-elastic engine mounts. The result of these
changes was a smoother and quieter ride. The rear brake drums and master
cylinder was also revised to provide less pedal travel and improved
modulation.
Exterior changes included a rear quarter and bumper extension
and new tail lamps that added 1.5 inches to overall length, and dual-stacked
red reflex appliques, centered between the taillights and the license plate
opening. Front-end changes for 1987 involved a restyled grille,
new composite headlamps and new hood header molding. New front side markers
and cornering and reflex lamps were also used. Nine new exterior colors were
introduced. Selected models were also offered with a new cabriolet top.
The DeVille touring coupe and sedan models were equipped with the ride and
handling package plus a front air dam, front fog lights, specific rocker
panel molding, body side accent molding, deck lid spoiler leather
seating areas, removable vertical louvers for the coupe quarter windows
and leather-wrapped steering wheel, lever knobs and gearshift lever.
