Indian Official Says 'Muhnochwa' Is Tech Developed Insect
[Original headline: Muhnochwa terrorizes eastern UP]

A top police official has said that the mysterious creature, which has terrorized some areas of Uttar Pradesh, is a 'technologically developed special insect spread by 'anti-national elements', a top police official said on August 18.

"The three to six inch long insect has been brought from outside India," Deputy Inspector General of Police K N D Dwivedi told reporters in Barabanki.

"The anti-national elements released these insects in the villages and cities during nights," he claimed.

The DIG said a drive had been launched to keep a watch on suspicious people at busy places . Besides night patrolling has been intensified.

Police had recently claimed that such an insect, which emits red light from its eyes and blue from its rear, was killed at Barabanki.

They also claimed that the killed insect was in fact 'Muhnochwa'.

Two persons have already fallen victim to the attacks by the mysterious creature and several others injured.

The state government has sought the assistance of a team scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur to resolve the mystery.
