Villagers want a taste of the water that is supposed to cure diseases

KUALA TERENGGANU - More than 200 villagers are flocking to a stream in Hulu Terengganu, convinced that water flowing from some rocks there provides a miracle cure to all kinds of diseases.

Villagers from Kampung Teris are convinced that water from the stream in Risda Gedong estate contains nutrients that help treat various diseases.

This was after they heard stories that buffaloes that drank from the stream seldom fell sick.

There has been a steady flow of visitors, including those from Kelantan, to the site for the past month, the Malay Mail reported yesterday.

Mr Ahmad Mamat, a farmer from Kampung Payang Kayu who used to lead his buffaloes to the stream to drink water, said he was convinced there is something special about the water.

'Every time I come here to feed my buffaloes, I noticed the animals would drink from the stream and lick the rocks in the stream,' he said.

'Since then, they seldom fall sick.'

He said that a few days later, he took some of the water home and gave it to his daughter who was suffering from kidney problems.

'I was surprised that the kidney stones came out when my daughter urinated a few hours later.'

Meanwhile, Ladang Risda Gedong assistant manager Mohd Zaidi Taib said that soon after people heard the rumours about the stream, they began to collect the water.

'Since then, the place has been full of people who want to see the 'miracle' for themselves,' he said.
