The Doom Tree Saga
Serena, Darien and the inners all live regular lives, not knowing about their past or each other when a new creature called a "cardian" starts running amuck in the streets, stealing people's energy. Luna and Artemis (the guardian cats), being the only ones with their memories intact, were the only ones who could do something about it. Luna restored Serena's memory and she transformed into Sailor Moon, defeating the cardian. Later on we learn that the enemy are two alien teens: Allen and Ann. Their mission is to steal enough energy to keep their "Doom Tree" alive because if it dies, so do they. Luna eventually restores the memories of Ami, Rei, Lita, and Mina and they fight alongside Serena. The only problem is, Tuxedo Mask is no longer around. Rather, the Moonlight Knight who seems to resemble Tuxedo Mask a lot. He shows up whenever they need them and offers his help and the usual speech. Allen and Ann disguise themselves as regular teens and attend Serena's school. Allen has a crush on Serena while Ann has a crush on Darien. And because Luna never restored his memory, he doesn't realize that he is Tuxedo Mask or that he and Serena are supposed to be a couple. Allen and Ann become friends with Serena and the others and they go on, never realizing each other is the enemy. One day the inners are kidnapped by Allen and Ann and Serena's powers don't work anymore. Queen Serenity's spirit gives her a new power and she saves the day. The inners also get new powers. After a while, Allen and Ann start missing school and Serena and Darien grow worried and go to visit them. Serena, being curious, goes into one of their rooms, finding the Doom Tree and gets attacked by it's vines. Allen and Ann reveal themselves and a battle takes place after the inners arrive. The tree can actually talk and explains their story. We learn that Allen and Ann are the only survivors of their race. Their people were corrupted by evil and died, leaving only the tree, Allen, and Ann. They need the tree in order to live, but the energy they stole was beginning to kill the tree instead of strengthen it. After a big fight, Allen and Ann realize the error of their ways as well as their feelings for each other and leave Earth with the tree. The Moonlight Knight also makes an appearance and reveals that he is Tuxedo Mask's ghost, since Darien had no memory of his past, but he soon vanishes when Darien learns the truth.
Dark Moon Saga
Everything's back to normal again, kind of. The scouts all have their past memories intact and Serena and Darien have a wonderful and stable relationship. That is, until a pink pig-tailed brat drops from the sky demanding the Imperium Crystal from Serena. She soon runs off and when Serena goes home, her family members tell her that the girl is her cousin Rini and that she's staying with them for a while. In truth, 'Rini' used hypnosis on them with her Luna P. Luna P is a big floating ball shaped like Luna's head. Rini has a mission and she keeps making attempts to steal the Imperium Crystal from Serena and return to the future where she came from to save her mother. A new enemy has also arrived, the NegaMoon Family. Rubeus and the Weird Sisters go around Tokyo, trying to turn different points of the city into negative areas to change the future where they originally came from. They are also in search of Rini because she has something they want. Darien also starts having nightmares about his relationship with Serena. A voice tells him that Serena will die if they stay together, and he breaks up with her, paying more attention to Rini because he feels some kind of connection with her. The scouts have a big battle with Rubues and the Weird Sisters when they come after Rini. A while later, Rini discovers their true identities, but refuses to believe 'a ditz like Serena' is Sailor Moon. After a while of battling with the weird sisters, Sailor Mars convinces Catsy to become good after Rubeus abandons her for failing so many times. Sailor Mercury also convinces Birdy to change after her other two sisters, Avery and Prisma, abandon her and Sailor Moon converts them both. After a big battle on a bridge, Avery and Prisma are also converted after learning how Rubeus truly felt about them. In a rage, Rubeus kidnaps the inner scouts and seals them in his ship. Sailor Moon and Rini fall into his trap and a battle takes place in which Rubeus dies and his space ship blows up. Another enemy comes, Emerald. And we learn that Rubeus was working for a higher power: The Dark Moon Family. One day Rini gets sick and seems to be trapped in her nightmare and can't wake up. Luna P reveals to the scouts that Rini and the Dark Moon family come from the future where Tokyo is run by them. Luna P teleports them into her nightmare where they protect her from one of the Dark Moon's minions sent to kill Rini. Eventually, the scouts travel to the future where they meet another scout, Sailor Pluto, the guardian of the gates of time. In the future, they learn that Serena and Darien get married and become Neo Queen Serenity and King Darien and rule over 'Crystal Tokyo'. Unfortunately, the Dark Moon family has invaded the city and taken over, covering the place in darkness. In Serenity's kingdom, she's trapped in a frozen sleep where King Darien watches over her and the future inner scouts use their powers to shield the palace so that the Dark Moon family can't take the Imperium Crystal or the queen. Rini is the daughter of Serena and Darien and she was sent into the past by Sailor Pluto to get the Imperium Crystal and be safe in the past. Here, we meet the leader of the Dark Moon family: Prince Diamond who has a lust for Sailor Moon and kidnaps her. His advisor, WiseMan (a dark figure covered in a purple cloak with a crystal ball) tries to convince him that he doesn't need the queen and to take Rini instead. Prince Diamond fails in brainwashing Sailor Moon, but WiseMan succeeds in kidnapping Rini and turning her into Wicked Lady by using all her bad memories with her parents and the scouts to fuel her anger. She makes many attempts to kill Sailor Moon, but fails and is eventually converted back to her normal state. WiseMan, who was responsible for the deaths of Emerald and Sapphire (he tricked Emerald by fueling her jealousy for Sailor Moon and love for Diamond, and Sapphire because he knew WiseMan couldn't be trusted), soon kills Prince Diamond and turns into his true form, the Doom Phantom (I think) and attemtps to kills the inners. Sailor Moon becomes Princess Serena and uses the Imperium crystal against him, but it isn't enough. Rini soon finds out that she had the Imperium Crystal of the future in her heart all this time and turns into her princess form and with her help and the power of the inners, the Doom Phantom is destroyed.
