Out Orb (The Out of
Earth
Orbit Club) is a fan club for the 1970s science fiction television series Space: 1999 -- a
show that deals with a group of lunar colonists and their adventures after a massive
explosion of nuclear waste on the lunar surface has blasted the Moon out of Earth orbit.
Out Orb has a focus on all aspects of the TV series including fictional spinoffs of the
series and a web comic about fictional Space: 1999 fans. Below are listed some specific
areas that the club deals with.
FAN FICTION
ALL NEW EPSIODES (or simply THE NEW SPACE: 1999):
The continuing episodes of The New Space: 1999. It continues where the original Space:
1999 left off. In the first episode, the Alphans encounter alien Met Amorphu of the Tu-
Eontauan Confederation as he and they enter Met's home solar system. And after
getting over the shock of the Psyche biological computer that Met built after his last
visit to Psychon, the Alphans decide to colonize the Tu-Eontauan homeworld since it has
long been evacuated because of the impending supernova threat. With Psyche,
however, geological stablity is provided for Tu-Eontau and reversing the supernova
threat of one of the Tu-Eontauan suns is attempeted. Unfortunately, Met's calculations
are off and Psyche causes the Tu-Eontauan sun to go nova much sooner than expected.
And so Met and the Alphans leave Tu-Eontau and continue with their journeys through
the universe.
SPACE: THE CONQUERING PATH:
An intergalactic war epic spun off from The New Space: 1999. This series deals with a
massive intergalactic war between two space powers: The Congregate and the
Aggregate. The Congregate is headed and was founded by the Tu-Eontauan Oligarchy
(formerly the Tu-Eontauan Confederation) and was primarily established to allow the Tu
-Eontauans to take back the colony worlds that were stolen from them over the
centuries. The Aggregate is headed and was founded by a civilization known as the
Vodunari Empire -- archenemies of the Tu-Eontauans. The Aggregate was formed to
counter the Congregate's military actions. Other civilizations involved in this
"Congregate-Aggeregate" war include Congregate members the Psychon Sovereignty
(which was revived by Tu-Eontauans who've acquired Psyche technology), the Dorcon
Imperial Federation (who need the alliance after suffering from a bloody civil war) and
the Ebladorn Union (long-standing allies of the Tu-Eontauans) as well as Aggregathe
members the Nondai Domain (a major enemy of the Tu-Eontauans), the Zondab
Assembly (another major Tu-Eontaiuan enemy) and the Tavnolavim Confederation
(former allies of the Tu-Eontauans).
SPACE: NEW HOMEWORLD: The world of the Terra Alpha -- a planet populated by
the decendants of the Alphan Lunar Authority. This is a series that takes place 1,000
years after the Alphans have colonized a new homeworld. Their civilization is known as
the Terra Alphan Democracy, and the people live generally prosperous and peceful
lives. The focus of this series is a group of people belonging to an organization called the
Alpha Journey Historical Society. This group decides to launch a series of space missions
that will take them to all the worlds visted by the original Alphans.
CROSSOVERS: So far, only three crossover have been thought up. But more are on
the way. Frist there's Star TRek: Deep Space 1999. It's a humorous and action-packed
crossover that deals with most incarnations of Star Trek with The New Space: 1999. Here,
an alien space jump system sends the Moon, via the Bajoran wormhole, into the Star
Trek universe. Then there's
Slioders:1999. Here, the Sliders are crew members on Moonbase Alpha. Quinn, in his
quest to modify a teleporation system that could send the Alphans back to Earth,
accidentally creates sliding technology. From that point on, he and his partners in slide
travel to alternate versions of Moonbase Alpha -- including one universe where the
Psychon Sovereignty has taken over the base for purposes of military conquest.
Third, there's Stargate: 1999. In this crossover, the Alphans land on a planet that is
coincidentally being explored by SG-1. But that's just one possible story. It's also possible
that -- assuming that Space: 1999 and Stargate SG-1 exist in the same universe -- the
planet the Alphans explore is also the Alpha Site -- the place where the Earth's best
and brightest relocated to after the Earth was damaged by the Breakaway event.
OUT OF EARTH ORBIT:
Perhaps the most interesting part of the Out Orb fan fiction area, this web comic
chronicles the escapades of a group of monster Space: 1999 fanatics in an alternate
reality where Space: 1999 is the number one science fiction TV series of all time. You can
get installemts of the comic delivered directly to your e-mail FOR FREE by contacting

THE ESPERANTO CONNECTION
Though most Out Orb material is written in English, Esperanto -- the international
language created by Polish phsyician L.L. Zamenhof in the late 19th century -- is the
official language of the Alphan Lunar Authority (Moonbase Alpha) in the Out Orb fan
universe. On that note, here are a few common Space: 1999 phrases translated into
the language:
"Atentu, c^iuj sekcioj de Alfao."
("Attention, all sections Alpha.")
"Algo Unu al bazo."
("Eagle One to base.")
"C^efaj motoroj."
( "Main motors")
"Eksplodema malkunpremo en la teknika sekcio."
("Explosive decompresssion in the technical section.")
