7/10/05
not long since last time but 2 new demos, one is a HUGE one .. and so the other isn't overshadowed, Laurent Mertens improved his NR of PSE bye a full 30 seconds to 4:08, so the cutoff is down a FULL minute to 8:16 .. wow, but the bigger one is Marlo coming back to own Justin .. reclaiming the full NH of ID levels by a 4:59 to 73:02!!! thats just insane. The cutoff drops almost 10 minutes to 146:04, its really making my IMPROVED demo look crap in comparison now :P
28/9/2005
Woah!! Nothing in 2004 and then a bunch of months .. lots of catching up to do. mostly in the ID section, but FOUR! new marathon sets were opened up and a few changes in the old favourites. Starting off with the ID ones
The Episode 1 EH was improved by Ken (Arturo Garcia Lasca) by an impressive 10 seconds, the cutoff drops 20 seconds to 15:04. The NR was hit up by David Hocking,
a huge 23 seconds faster, cutoff drops 46 seconds to 5:58. The NH saw 2 lots of action, first improved by Thomas Stubgaard by 6 seconds, then later Daniel Magnusson
reclaimed his record by 22 seconds more, total of 28 seconds so the cutoff is down 56 seconds to 23:02.
In Episode 2, the NR was destroyed by Connor Fitzgerald by 44 seconds to 5:55, the cutoff drops bigtime by 88 seconds to 11:50. The NH was improved by Stubby by another 20 seconds,
so the cutoff is down another 40 to 34:32.
In Episode 3, the ER was slightly pushed down by Martin by 2 seconds to 2:46, so the cutoff drops 4 seconds to 5.32. The NH took a much bigger hit, dropping 45 seconds to Stubby.
the cutoff is 90 seconds less now at 24:08.
In Episode 4, the EH was smacked big time by Timo Nieminen again, down 54 seconds to 13:06, the cutoff down a huge 108 seconds to 26:12. The NH has seen a bit of action recently too,
first in a demo coming up, Justin Fleck scraped off 5 seconds, Thomas Stubgaard thought that was crap and took a further 3minutes 28 seconds off, and then Marlo hit last to reclaim his record
with a further 21 second improvement, the final record now 21:27, 3:49 faster than my last update, so the cutoff down a big 7:38 to 42:54.
In the WHOLE of the id levels there have been some cool improvements, starting with Connor Fitzgerald snatching the cool ER by 16 seconds, the cutoff down 32 now to 27:32 .. and endangering my
crappy time :P. Next, the EH got hit up .. twice, first Justin Fleck took a HUGE 6:56 off the time, then Marlo recaptured his record with a further 1:08 improvement, total improvement
of 8:04, thats 16:08 !! off the cutoff which drops to 92:04. The NR was also smacked by Connor, this time a huge 4:03 faster than Wills previous and ONLY 1 second slower than the first QDQ!!
this means the cutoff has fallen 8:06 to 39:40. The NH lastly has also been improved by Justin, this time a massive 8:47 improvement to 78:01. the cutoff falls 17:34 to 156:02.
Onto the mission packs, not too many improvements, first Dane Plachetta improved Ilkkas old demo of the HIP1 ER firstly 8 seconds, then a further 2 to 2:32, so the cutoff is down 20 seconds to
5:04. Onto DOE, Michael Hudson further improved his DOE1 ER 3 times, by 27, 14 then a further 6 seconds, ending up on 8:27, a total of 47 seconds faster than the last update, so the cutoff is
down 94 seconds to 16:54.
Onto the custom packs, firstly I had an error in the table, missing nolans name from his ZER NH .. that is fixed. The Black EH was improved by Stefan Schwoon by a nice 54 seconds to 7:18, cutoff down 108 to
14:36. Next all the IKSPQ levels were improved, the ER improved 5 seconds by Connor to 3:49, cutoff down to to 7:38. Carl Tholin is responsible for the other 3 improvements, first the EH down a huge 2:34 to 9:51
cutoff down 5:08 to 19:42. The NR is now 4:19 faster!! to 7:45, so the cutoff is down 8:38 to 15:30. Finally the NH got 3:25 knocked off it to 20:12, cutoff drops 6:50 to 40:24.
Next RDE saw 2 improvements, both again to Carl, first the ER dropping 19 seconds to 5:18 (cutoff down 38 to 10:36) and the NH down 3:09 to 15:25, so that cutoff down 6:50 to 40:24.
CZG07 NH was captured by Daniel Hansson by a 3:15 improvement to 18:32 giving him TOTAL OWNAGE of the level, the cutoff is down 6:18 to 30:50. Finally the DAZ NR saw first a tablefiller, then 2 improvements
the first was by Pif de Mestre at 2:20, improved twice by Weixing Ye, first by 11 seconds, then another 9, so the cutoff drops 40 to 4:00
Next are the 4 new episodes.
the Deathmatch levels were hacked around to be made into good SP arenas, and saw lots of action. The ER was started by Pif de Mestre at 2:24, which he improved to 2:19, then George Dickeson came in with 2:18,
Pif replied with a 2:15, then 2:11, then Ken did 2:01 and 1:58, finally Martin Selinus sealed it with a 1:53. A total of 31 seconds faster than the tablefiller and the cutoff is at 3:46. The EH was started by Basil de
Vries at 5:45 then taken by George Dickeson by 42 seconds to 5:03, so the cutoff is 10:06. Only 1 demo for the NR, George doing 3:12, (cutoff 6:24). The NH was also just George, first in 19:22, later he pwned himself by
9:30 to 9:52, so the cutoff is 19:44.
Next is DMC levels, again the ER was hit up a lot, Basil started things with a 1:57, Amrik Kochhar hit back with a 1:50, then 1:47, Pif took that away with a 1:45, then 1:38, George had a go at 1:29 and finally Connor stole
the show with a 1:16. A total 41 seconds faster than the table filler and the cutoff is 2:32. The EH saw George do 2 demos, first 6:12, then to 5:44, so the cutoff is 11:28. The NR was started by Pif at 2:13, then stolen
by George at 1:39, 34 seconds faster and a cutoff of 3:18. The NH was started by Richard Skidmore at 9:57, then 9:33, then George took that off him with a 8:49, total 68 faster than the first and a cutoff of 17:38.
The PSE levels finally have some marathons on them. Pif started the ER at 4:57, then 4:42, then newby Jonathan Lenhardt improved that by 49 seconds to 3:55, and another newby Laurent Mertens sealed it with a 3:31, 88 faster than the
table filler at a final cutoff of 7:02. The EH was done by Richard Skidmore, first in 20:14, then 16:27, cutoff is 32:54. The NR was started again by Pif at 6:01, then Laurent came in at 4:56, then 4:38, a total 1:23 faster than the start
and cutoff at 9:16. No one has the guts yet for the NH .. The last pack is "TERRA" and at the moment only the runs are done, the ER started by Pif at 3:08, then Kimmo Polvivaara came along at 2:34, and Mathias Thore took it out with a 2:17,
cutoff is 4:34, the NR has one entry by Jonathan Lenhardt, at 4:24, cutoff is 8:48.
one last thing .. Lessandro Z Mariano did the ONLY windlash demo (cheated or naked) and beat my all of ID ER time by 5 seconds to 15:24, cutoff drops 10 sec to 30:48. Wow that took a long time gathering the info, updating etc .. until next time
10/4/2003
Ok time for the big update that consists of little things I should have done months ago. On 12 December last year
Timo Nieminen the ID EH of ep2 by 40 seconds to 11:20 so the cutoff drops 80 seconds to 22:40. Then onto DOE. The ep1 ER was taken
from me by Michael Hudson first by 37 seconds to 9:42 then another 28 seconds a few days ago to 9:14. The cutoff dropped to 19:24 then
18:28. I improved my DOE ep1 EH by 74 seconds to 20:36 so the cutoff is now 41:12. I should have the NR improved soon :) Then on DOE ep2
I improved my ER by 168 seconds to 16:03. cutoff is down to 32:06.
I almost improved the EH of all of DOE but stuffed up in many levels losing way to much time. Next is Basil de Vries taking total
ownage on the Ikspq levels. he bet my ER by 57 seconds !! the cutoff drops to 7:48. He bet my EH by a small 26 seconds to 12:25 so the cutoff is
24:50. Hmm i could probably improve this if i try :) He then filled that gap for NR in 12:04 cutoff starts 24:08 Then filled the gap for NH in 23:37
so the cutoff starts at 47:14.
The next new demos are on CZG07 by Daniel Hansson, he improved his ER by 6 seconds to 2:38 so the cutoff drops to 5:16 .. I still haven't tried to learn
these levels ever :). He improved the EH twice first to 15:34 then 14:20. so the cutoff dropped to 31:08 then 28:40. Some big improvements there, about 3 minutes
off from the last update. I found a mistake in the time on my listing for the NH so i fixed that :) Well that didn't take TOO long to do :) Then at the end of the
day I improved my DOE1 EH time by 30 seconds to 20:06 trying for the ALL of EH (died in r2m6) cutoff drops 1 minute to 40:12.
12/3/2003
Well back at uni, and i had been playing diablo2 again, but for now i've had to cut that out cuz it just takes too much goddamn time :( So to fill in my gaming time I'm trying out my quake skills again. Tonight I've been trying the EH of hip1. nothing much more to say yet :) and yeah there are a few demos i should update the tables with but its a bit late tonight 2 do that ..
27/12/2002
Geez 3 months since i've been here? Well uni is over for another year, I passed 8 of my 9 papers :) I'm at home working again. which are some of the reasons i ain't been here .. also feeling a bit slack :) but obviously i still care since i'm writing this. There are some new demos 2 put in the tables etc but i'm not going 2 do that now, just tell u I will soon and that i'm not dead :) bye for now :)))
17/9/2002
Well since last time I updated I've stopped playing Diablo2, other things have been taking my time but there has been 2 good marathons, the first by Carl Tholin, improving Marlos EH of RDE by 2 WHOLE minutes to 11:52, so the cutoff drops 4!! minutes to 23:44. Also Daniel Magnusson improved his NH of ID ep1 by 12 seconds to 11:59, so cutoff drops 24 seconds to 23:58. I've also noticed its been almost a year since my last DOE demo .. so i might do something about that soon :) Wait and see
31/7/2002
Ok so its been ages since I've been here, 2 reasons for that, one is I had exams then a holiday, another is i just haven't been quakeing lately .. blame Diablo2
anyway, heres whats happened sine last time.
Richard improved his NH of daz by 42 seconds to 4:52, cutoff now 9:44.
Also Ken sent me a demo however I got annoyed since he sent it to my hotmail address instead of my Yahoo mailbox, and filled my hotmail up, and I probably lost some
emails. I have the demo on my computer somewhere .. so soonish I'll watch it and see what he did.
See you in 2 months ;) j/k
6/6/2002
Well no more classes this semester, 1 small assignment, then exams .. time for some demos :). A good place to start would be the only cheated marathon
over the past month and a half, Jozsef's ER ep1 in 2:07, 11 seconds faster than Jonny, which brings the cutoff down to 4:14. Jozsef also improved the ER of
Jazz Blue to 0:41, 2 seconds faster than Sergi, the cutoff comes down to 1:22 and makes my current 1:17 demo look like the crap it is :)
On the DAZ levels Amrik improved his ER time to 1:43, the cutoff down to 3:26. He filled the hole for the EH in 3:55 (cutoff 7:50) and Richard Skidmore did the
NH in 5:34 (cutoff 11:08)
Also filling a HUGE hole was Nolan who did the NH of zer in 26:33 (initial cutoff 53:06) lots of room for improvements in here if you know the levels (i don't .. yet)
Which brings me onto my recent demos, not to many but some big improvements, eg EH all of quake in 71:47 then 65:57 :) (12:50 faster than what it was a few days ago)
then i tried improving my EH of hipnotic and did 51:17 (was 59:11) because of these improvements i'm going to try and improve my EH DOE soon, and my ID cheated demo
since its now slower than the normal one :)
Lastly since RDE with bunnies is now at SDA i've put 4 spaces for the bunnied marathons, if anyone does them. Lastly I forgot to mention earlier I finally did
the NH all of hipnotic, but the time was too slow, i think 105 minutes :) the demo file size is also 105 meg ...
19/5/2002
Geez its been 1 whole month since i updated this .. but thats only due to have 3 very full on weeks of things to do at university. I'll write about the last months demos later tonight. Actually I'll do that after the 27th, then i only have 3 assignments before the end of the semester and i'll have time to write this.
19/4/2002
Should have done this earlier but oh well. Firstly Martin Selinus got into the ER EP1 table in a unique way but improving the record by 3 seconds to 2:28 :) Good for you Martin, also the Cutoff time decreases 6 seconds to 4:56. The next demo is a record beater but as of yet isn't at SDA. Jozseft Szalontai has improved the EP1 EH by 7 seconds to 7:42, cutoff time down 14 seconds to 15:24 but that is nothing to worry about. I gather he wants to improve further before he submits it for other people to watch it :) Also there are some new SDA levels that marathons can be run on, the level set are the Daz levels that I haven't played yet but just added to the M4RJ tables, Amrik Kochhar has done the ER in 1:46 making the initial cutoff 3:32.
3/4/2002
Timo Nieminen has improved his EP4 EH to 14:00, another 41 seconds off, and the cutoff time is down to 28:00. I also did the HIP2 NH
yesterday trying for all of hip .. I was in HIPDM1 .. possibly the worst map for a NH when my computer decided to do a blue screen on me
so i must have killed at least 1200 monsters up till then .. i'll get it one day :). After I salvage the HIP2 demos I think I'll do HIP3 NH
then put them all together.
Also the new cheated Quake update is finally up and Jozsef Szalontai has done an EP2 ER in 3:18. sounds fast :)
2/4/2002
An new SDA marathon from Timo Nieminen is EP4 EH in 14:41, 37 seconds faster than Marlo, the cut off time has dropped by 1:14 but my demo is still 8 minutes faster than the new cutoff :)
1/4/2002
No April fools i improved my personal best for HIP1 NH to 19:28 only 2 secs slower than my best EH .. died later in hip2m4 .. sure
that that map has a curse on it ..
Update .. I tried again, this time died in hip2m5 but got hip1 to 17:39 another 1:51 off :)
31/3/2002
I managed to do the NH all of quake cheated in 90:24 not bad since almost 1000 more monsters to kill than the EH and once again a few monsters were hiding .. oh and in e3m2 i did the COOLEST telefrag of a shambler I've ever done .. my time was 90:24, this makes the cut off time 180:48 (note my time is 3:36 slower than Marlo's regular marathon) Not bad for a first attempt :)
30/3/2002
I just recorded a EH all of quake cheated in 66:27, which makes the cutoff off almost 133 minutes. Easy to get in this range, try it. I'll try the NH version soon. Oh and I think my screen is broken, I can see these lines on it and they are very annoying ..
26/3/2002
Its been a busy few days for marathons. Last night David Hocking entered the ER ep1 race in 4th place with a cool 2:48, only 4 seconds slower than Jordi Ros. Also Amrik Kochhar has improved his ER of the Black levels by 17 seconds to 4:27, the Cut-off time has dropped by 34 seconds but my sloppy demo is still easily in the acceptable range :) However in Amriks demo he didn't do an easy GJ in black 3 that I'm sure i did .. shame on you Amrik .. I might take your demo off my table until you put that jump in ;)
24/3/2002
Basil sent his ER ep1 demo to me this morning and his time was 3:09 which puts him in 7th place, 4 seconds slower than Chris Longden,
however 19 seconds faster than Peter Horvaths old record! :) There are now 10 demos in this category and I'm getting tempted to improve
my slow time and maybe look like I am faster than Peter as well :)
Also almost forgot to mention that Daniel Hansson improved his EH marathon of CZG07 by 25 seconds to 17:18, this means the cutoff time
has decreased by 50 seconds!! but to a reasonable time of 34:36. I personally haven't tried these levels yet as i just don't know them ... yet :)
22/3/2002
I put a post on the SDA message board a few days ago asking more people to compete for the ER of EP1. Earlier today Ken (Arturo García Lasca) sent in a 2:59. This puts him in 5th position only 2 seconds behind Ilkkas demo. I have heard a rumour that Basil de Vries has also made a demo, however I am yet to see it, but when i have watched it I'll put him in the table where he should be.
19/3/2002
Firstly a huge thank you to Stubby for including cheated marathons at the Windlash page (http://www.planetquake.com/sda/qdn/) For one thing there will now be a place I can upload some of my stuff to :) I sent in my 18:43 NR, discovered my 15:57 ER was missing so made a 15:29 and sent that in .. I'm working on the other big ones when i get time :) I also fixed up the tables as well tonight. Also finally added David Hocking's ER ep1 cheated in 2:40. Lastly Stubby did a cheated NH of ep2 in 15:23 to start the tables, and yesterday did a cheated NH of ep4 in 22:40 that apparently sucks big time :)
Last minute addition I just got a cheated ER ep1 by Jonny Andersson in 2:18 .. very cool stuff, the cut off time for this category has just dropped by 44 seconds :)
27/2/2002
Just a few things to say, my free ISP is closing so I'm changing email addresses and all sorts of stuff over No new demos as yet :) However there is no point in someone making a demo then sending it to an address which does not exist anymore, but my yahoo account is better and holds more anyway :) Oh and I've finished work for the summer and back at uni at the mo.
25/1/2002
Sorry to my regular visitors (prolly only me but hey) but the reason I haven't updated in ages
is that I haven't really been playing Quake 1 too much lately, and haven't seen any new demos ..
although there have been some improved marathons for SDA (eg one which takes over a minute from
the cutoff time ..) so I should at least update the tables ..
Other than that I've been busy 5 days a week with some paid work which is a bit physically draining and after that you don't really feel like a good hard marathon. Lastly when I do start quakeing again properly I'll be trying my own crappy version of a qdqish thing :) more on that later .. but this update was mainly to tell you that I am not dead, this site is definitely not dead, (unlike a few other small speedrunning sites) and thirdly just thanx for reading all this stuff :)
2/1/2002
I found a silly lil error tonight :) prolly lots more in the tables, if you find anything, just tell me about it.
I have some demos I should have mentioned by now but its been hot and I have no energy. They will come soon though ..
Lastly do you like the new logo? Hopefully it is only the start of a few good changes around here .. :) More later
28/11/2001
I dropped my computer off to get fixed the other day, so things will be very quiet till
its going again. In the meantime David Hocking has sent me a cheated ER of ep1 in 2:40.
I will add it to the tables once my computer is back and i've watched it :)
23/11/2001
Tables updated with Thomas improving his NH cheated ep1 to 10:45, this is high quality
except for the odd incident in e1m5 that took 4 rocket jumps from memory to get out of one place :)
Anyway the cutoff is 21:30, so its easy for most people to get in that range, however it gets hard
trying not to run out of ammo, try it and you'll know what we mean :) Thomas was also kind enough
to do the cheated NH of ep3 in 12:22 (cutoff 24:44) now i haven't watched this demo yet (my computer
won't even turn on :( but i doubt Thomas would send an invalid demo.
Anyway onto my demos, I made the ER all of quake, cheated in 15:57 so the cut off is 31:54.
So thats all for now, who knows when my computer will be going again, but keep sending me any demos you make :)
19/11/2001
One day i did All of quake cheated in 18:58, then killed the demo .. today i managed 18:43 :) So that will go on the
tables that i'm about to add .. speaking of new stuff i have heard rumours of a NH cheated ep1 in 11:39 by someone who shall remain
nameless for now..
I will reveal all once i've got the demo, checked it .. and added that stuff to the table :)
11/11/2001
The other day i recorded my first doom demo, EP1 UV MAX, thats the equivalent of 100% not sure of the time yet haven't had a chance
to analyse the .LMP file. Other than that i haven't played too much quake lately except i made an ER marathon all of quake with the cheated
patch .. but there are tooo many mistakes, so i might try and improve that, then maybe do another demo or 2, then add that section to the tables,
I've heard rumours of other ppl with nice marathons they have made but no one wants to share them, so they won't get any mentions until i see some
proof!
An hour or two later and my ER cheated time is now 16:48 :) less mistakes now but i can do better still, just did the NM cheated in 18:58
7/11/2001
Finally managed EH of Beyond Belief .. the time 19:25 (cutoff 29:30) thinking about adding a column in the
tables for All of quake cheated :)
6/11/2001
Did hip2 EH in 23:08 (cutoff 28:44) trying RDE EH now :)
Since Amrik improved his ER of black by 10 seconds to 4:44 the cutoff comes down by 20 seconds to 9:28
however my EH is still in that range :) as well as the silly ER i did.
Also did ID ep2 EH in 19:44 (rather slow but cutoff is 24:00), then ep3 in 14:55
(cutoff 18:32) then ep4 in 21:22 (cutoff 30:36) then improved my old ER of id ep1 by 37 seconds
to 3:56, this is faster than Stefans first demo .. so i go up a place in the table, yay :) this is what
M4RJ is all about.
5/11/2001
Did ID ep1 EH in 13:22 (cutoff 15:24)
4/11/2001
Did hip3 EH for fun in 14:05 (cutoff 17:44)
2/11/2001
Today i did the ER of black in 6:34 then later cruised through all of hipnotic EH in 59:11
1/11/2001
Amrik just informed me he did a ER of black in 4:54 so cutoff is 9:48, my EH is in this range so i'll make
a proper ER soon i think
.. Stuff doing the black ER for now that first map is awful .. so i improved my IKSPQ EH marathon and submitted to
SDA, time 12:51, cut off is 25:42.
Many hours later i did the ER of IKSPQ in 4:51, cutoff time starts at 9:52. Now there are only 9 holes in the M4RJ table.
29/10/2001
Amrik beat Ilkkas ER hip3 by 13 seconds, this means the cutoff time for that marathon drops 26 seconds!
28/10/2001
I made demos for all the Jazz Blue levels i hadn't done yet (ER, EH, NR) in (1:17, 1:38 and 1:25)
The runs aren't all that good, close to the cut offs .. but its quick and fun to make them.
Also later made EH hip 1 in 14:11 (sucks) was trying all of hip, couldn't find a monster in hip2m4
27/10/2001
Just made EH of the IKSPQ levels (ikstart - ikspq5) in 15:08, also added Mexx 9 levels to the tables :)
which means the only thing not currently on the tables is the Prodigy Special Edition levels .. i hope marathons can be
done in there :)
25/10/2001
I did NH of the Black episode tonight first in 13:48, then 12:35, no marathons have ever been
done before in this episode. Its a shame easy marathons are possible becuase of the stupid level bskill ..sigh
Ok, now a few hours later Amrik gave me an idea how to do an easy marathon and i did the EH in 8:55, then 8:12 cheers Amrik :)
18/10/2001
I did NH Hipnotic Episode 1 (no idea of its name :)) in 19:55, I was trying
the all of hipnotic NH, i got to hip2m6, with one monster to go i confused the invisibility
with the pentagram and shot grenades into a fiend at close range, by the time i realised i tried to get away
but the fiend scratched me and finished me off :( sigh.
A few minutes later i tried again, this time got to hip2m4 .. but improved hip1 time to 19:21
16/10/2001
I did the NH all of Beyond Belief (fills a hole at SDA). Some room for improvement .. and
you have just over 1 hour to make the demo and get it on this site :) I was also talking to Nolan today about
making marathons in the Black episode and the IKSPQ levels, it seems for black at least that Easy marathons are
impossible without one stupid level being removed (doesn't have monsters or secrets anyway ..)
