- In 1996, Dale Gagner, calling himself Dale "Gagne", supposedly bought
the rights to the American Wrestling Association name (but not the
promotion) in the State of Minnesota and started his own promotion AWA
Superstars of Wrestling / AWA Wrestilng Entertainment.
- The rights for the AWA name and all the footage before
1996 are actually owned by World Wrestling Entertainment.
