Notes:
1. Pat Patterson wins a fictious tournament to win the title.
From Gregory Danko: "Pat Patterson's most famous title known to many today was
being the very first holder of the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The
storyline claims that Pat won a tournament in Rio de Janiero for it, but the
real story is slightly different. Pat had defeated Ted DiBiase (who was a
popular good guy in those days!) for the WWWF North American Title. However,
Vince McMahon Sr. found out that another promotion had a belt of the same name,
so he came up with a new title and awarded it to Pat. An estimated date for the
title creation is August 1, 1979."
